As described in the title, here are the finer details:
Hip Pad Features:
- The hip pad is 1.5 times thicker than the standard issue hip pad.
- Shaped to support the lower back and rounded on the ends to better withstand wear and tear.
- Secures to the frame with 3" webbing for Alice slots and 2 x 1" webbing with removable ladderlocs and triglides.
- Includes 2” ladderlocs on the sides to enable fitting of a “gut belt.”
Shoulder Strap Features:
- One-piece 1000D Cordura shoulder strap panel with Airmesh backing.
- Reinforced with dual layers of fabric at the base where the QRSB buckle is mounted.
- Features two 42-stitch bartacks placed 1.5cm apart for a solid mounting point.
- Each strap includes:
- Adjustable sternum slider
- D-ring for radio handsets or hydration cables
- Triglide mounted to a non-adjustable webbing section for strap adjustment at the uppermost mounting point.
Yoke Panel & Harness:
- Shoulder straps are mounted to a central yoke panel to ensure durability.
- The harness is sewn with a 4cm internal seam, reinforced by three 42-stitch bartacks centrally and on each side for added strength.
- Future versions will feature a vertical join covered by 2” webbing with a sewn-through box, similar to the hip pad.
Load-Bearing & Stability:
- The upper and lower attachment points are reinforced with a choke hitch of webbing and three spaced bartacks, similar to rappelling anchor points.
- The main load is carried by the two vertical straps connecting the yoke panel to the frame's base.
- Horizontal stabilizer straps prevent side-to-side play and allow adjustable fit for users of varying heights.
- The harness is designed to wrap from the base of your shoulder blades over your shoulder and down across the front under your arms.
- A sternum strap is highly recommended to lock the shoulder straps in place and prevent them from sliding off the shoulders.

By far the best designed Alice frame straps I’ve found.
The frame pad and waist belt are excellent in simple but effective design.
Great construction. Comfortable and no strap slippage.
Haven't tested out bush yet but first performance under load felt great. Seem durable and comfortable to wear. Sternum strap could be a bit tighter though when I do my marches without BA and kit on this was just a little too loose for me. Only drama was the waistbelt straps were a pain in the.. getting through my modified malice frame, which helped me find out the buckles were very durable haha.

Prior to purchasing the said suspension system for my old army issued ALICE Pack, Large, l have never come across Twin Needle NZ. I have never been that comfortable with my large ALICE pack, so it remained in storage all this while. Been scouting around for a replacement suspension system for the venerable pack and always refrained from pushing the buy button until l came across you guys. Received it in the mail box about 2 weeks, fitted it to my ALICE pack and voila! It has become my go to pack now. I would describe it in one sentence…. It feels that someone is hugging me lovingly!!!!! No regrets in buying this excellent system… you get quality stuff, made with superior quality materials and lovingly made by people who knows.
